Booking The Test
In Queensland, all practical driving tests to obtain a provisional license for a manual or auto car are conducted by the Department of Transport. If you are doing your lessons through the driving school it is best to get your driving instructor to organize this test for you at a time convenient to the both of you. But you can book and pay for this test yourself at any of the Qld Transport offices. You do not need to fill out any forms at this stage, just tell the attendant at the counter that you would like to book a practical driving test. The attendant will charge you a booking fee of $40.45 (price at time of publication). After you have paid your fee pick up a "Driver Licence Application/Renewal Form" (Form F3000). It needs to be filled out prior to taking the practical test, and it has a section on the back that must be signed by the owner of the car that you will be taking on the test. Each office has a direct phone line to the central booking unit. The use of this line is free. So you just pick up the phone and arrange a date and time for your test. Write that date and time and booking reference number down and keep it safe! If you have to cancel your test for any reason it must be done 2 days prior or you will lose your booking fee money. You can also book your test via the internet or over the phone, using a credit card to pay your booking fee.
