Steering Purpose To test your ability to steer a steady course in an approved manner Types of errors you can make CDE - NCDE - SRDE It is a critical driving error (CDE) and therefore the test will be terminated ahead of time if you for example Lose control of steering
Remove both hands from the steering wheel whilst vehicle is in motion
You get allocated one non critical driving error (NCDE) if you for example Hold the steering wheel with arms crossed
Steer with one hand only (steering with one hand is permitted when you are reversing or you are operating vehicle controls).
Place your hand inside the rim of the steering wheel
Steer using the palm of one hand
Steer whilst vehicle is stationary
Do not steer a steady course
Your movements are jerky
You brush against boundaries e.g. an angle kerb
All non critical driving errors count also as SRDE (you fail if you repeat a particular error six times) TIP If your steering is jerky you most likely use to many small movements or you are gripping the steering wheel too tight. Don't grip tight. Just hold the steering wheel and pull it down ina continuous movement.
