Judgement Purpose To test your ability to negotiate intersections, lane changing or merging without causing other road users to take evasive action. Types of errors you can make CDE - NCDE It is a critical driving error (CDE) and therefore the test wil be terminated ahead of time if you for example Enter a choked intersection or level crossing, causing obstruction to others
Fail to clear the intersection after moving into it to turn right
Fail to give way to other road users
It is a non critical driving error (NCDE) if you for example Do not judge appropriately the speed and distance of other vehicles whilst negotiating intersections, lane changes or merging situations
Do not progress when presented with a safe gap in traffic
Stop inappropriately
Give way unnecessarily
TIP Think like YOU would be the driver every time you are going for a ride and challenge your driver with your judgement. Remember, judging is an art growing with exercise, so accept that you skill level in this department is rather low at the beginning of your driving career and drive defensively.
